Satisfactory completion of the Course for the Masters in Technology and Digital Art confers the degree of Master in Technology and Digital Art. Satisfactory completion of the learning units that constitute the taught part of the Course confers the right to the Post-graduate Diploma (Specialisation) in Technology and Digital Art.

Specialist Area
Technology and Digital Art.

General Objectives

The Course for the Masters in Technology and Digital Art has, as its principal objective, professional training in order to be able to carry out the development of new applications, products and aesthetic narratives in the following aspects of such areas as the multimedia industries, education, entertainment and cultural expression:

  • direction and management of projects involving technological applications in scenarios concerning the digital use, exploration and experimentation in cultural and artistic expression, education and entertainment;
  • conception and development of technological applications that explore the communicatory and sensory expressiveness of content, interfaces and interaction with respect to the domains of intervention in the multimedia industry, in general, and specially in cultural and artistic expression, as well as education and entertainment;
  • intervention in experimentation, development and creation of innovative aesthetic forms supported by digital technologies;
  • conception and implementation of experimental and/or action research projects.

Specific Objectives

Accepting the general objectives listed above, the Course Study Plan has the following specific objectives:

  • To provide a fundamental knowledge of the theories and practice of basic technological applications in the domains of digital art, cultural expression, education and entertainment taking into account the diverse contexts of such professional domains;
  • To enable autonomous professional work developing models and conceptual mechanisms and methodologically apposite projects concerning the application of basic technologies in the domains of digital art, cultural expression, education and entertainment;
  • To develop methodologies for exploring, applying and evaluating the technologies associated with the study of and/or intervention in basic digital user, exploration and experimental scenarios in the domains of digital art, cultural expression, education and entertainment;
  • To certify an ability to exercise supervisory functions in application projects and/or technological experimentation in the context of interventions in the domains of digital art, cultural expression, education and entertainment.

  • Competencies in the selection, conception and development of models and the appropriate configuration of technological applications and/or experimental projects in the domains of digital Art, cultural expression, education and  entertainment in relation to the specifics of each final application scenario;
  • Competencies in the specification, analysis and informed intervention in the contexts of technological applications and/or experimentation in the domains of digital Art, cultural expression,  education and entertainment;
  • Competencies in the autonomous performance of functions related to the implementation and/or supervision of technological application projects in the fields of digital Art, cultural expression, education and  entertainment
  • Competencies to enable experimentation, research and/or action research in the context of technological applications and exploration in the domains of digital Art, cultural expression, education and entertainment.

Learning Outcomes
In accordance with the professional profile determined throughout the Course, it is expected that course members will acquire during the same period the capability to:

  • Classify the main theories, principles, models and technologies, their potentialities and limitations bearing in mind their applicability in modelling, interfacing and interacting with communicatory contents, which allow for experimentation with and expansion of current and new aesthetic narratives;
  • Diagnose the needs  and potentialities for the integration of technologies in both experimental and final use scenarios;
  • Rigorously and efficiently select, develop and apply models, devices, methods and techniques for the application and exploration of appropriate technologies in relation to the needs and potentialities of user and experimental scenarios,  as well as supervising their implementation;
  • Participate autonomously, critically and imaginatively in technology and digital Art projects;
  • Arrange methodologically usability evaluations of information systems and/or fully developed scenarios in the context of project applications and technological experimentation in various intervention domains;
  • Manage the processes of change resulting from the introduction of technologies in professional contexts and practices in various intervention domains.
