Course Organisation top
The curricular structure of the course is designed to function as a second level of higher education in accordance with the new Bologna model.
Of the four semesters of course duration, the first two and part of the third are devoted to lectures, while part of the third and all of the fourth semester are for work on the thesis.
In each semester course members must apply their acquired knowledge by the planning and implementing a project related to “technology and digital art,” which will constitute a spaçe for experimenting with technologies and exploring new aesthetic forms.
First Semester: course content will be at the level of fundamental knowledge presented through a nucleus of curricular units containing theoretical and/or practical components. These units will include:
- technologies of human-computer interaction;
- computational aesthetics;
- technologies of sensors and actuators;
- programming techniques for digital art.
At the end of the first semester course members must have acquired knowledge that will allow them to undertake their first experiences in the production and processes of digital Art in the context of an integrated project curricular unit.
Second and Third Semesters: depending upon their chosen options, each course member should acquire specialised knowledge that will allow them to understand the problems and be proficient in the more specific techniques associated with some of the main application areas.
The more specific areas of theoretical and technological knowledge include the following:
- virtual reality;
- computer vision;
- digital sound and music;
- digital storytelling;
- communication and learning in the Net;
- evaluation of usability.

Thesis top
The work for the thesis will conclude the training and it will be related to a professional aspect of the course. The work of the thesis aims to provide an opportunity for the course member to implement and/or practice with the knowledge and competencies acquired during the Course, in the context of non-academic aspects entrepreneurial or institutional practices and/or operations. Furthermore, it is expected that some thesis work could end up leading to future research and development work at the doctoral level.
